With the influx of private organizations & its stupendous growth, it’s not tough for the deserving candidates to avail a job out there. But then the challenge appears – that is, surviving successfully for long. The dynamics in the office environment does not remain the same. The external environment keeps changing & sometimes the changes are not good for the employees. Apart from that, there are other reasons too like being a victim of corporate politics, remaining an underperformer, inability to change with time & the like. Once the fear of getting terminated from job hits mind, it starts hampering personal & professional life both. Let’s see how this feeling of job insecurity can be tackled.

Tips to Reduce the Fear of Job Insecurity

1. Diversify Your Skill

There is no alternative of acquiring skills. With each passing day, the imperative of learning something new & getting updated rises. The ones who are left behind this will actually land in difficulty. It may be a software updating or it could be a paradigm shift in work pattern, in some way or other, changes are bound to happen, employees have to predict it & acquire the sought after skills being proactive. Then they will have no reason to be afraid of losing job.

2. Build Strong Network

Nobody knows what possibility lies in the next moment. The world is scattered with talents, it’s just that sometimes we fail to connect to the proper person at the right time. So if an employee builds a strong network & knows very well who is best for what then the opportunity just goes higher for development. A job place offers ample chance for networking.

Learning networking basics is only a gateway to career growth and exploration.

3. Be Proactive in Image Management

4. Assess Opportunities & Threats

Once someone is appointed & have started to work then there is nothing to worry, as I got the job, so I am secured. Unfortunately, this is not! To be in the safe side, incumbents must assess the opportunities in threats around them. Most of the time, there is no mentor for everyone who would appear in the hard time & guide to the right way. So it is imperative to stay alert to be safe enough to protect the job.

5. Be in the Good Book of the Departmental Head’s

Ultimately, it is the departmental head whose sign does the talking for retaining or terminating! So it is crucial to be of such importance to dept. that the chairperson or departmental head cannot make a negative recommendation.

The most important thing is that you be a good person and you live by the golden rule of do unto others.
